Following a tumultuous election year in America, millions are considering the future of the United States, some are taking a step back to consider the nation’s origins. How did the idea of the United States germinate? What forces were at play at the beginning? What role did religion really have in the formation of the nation? And what can history teach us as we consider the decisions America faces today?Debuting on May 13, 2021, at the St. John’s SDA Church in a four-part documentary-style series, Final Empire will explore these questions in detail, comparing the prophecies of the Bible with the evidence of history. In addition, Final Empire will explore what Bible prophecy says about the challenges the United States faces today. This series, hosted by Voice of Prophecy Speaker/Director Shawn Boonstra, will compare history with the Bible to address topics such as: “Republic Rising,” “Christianity Corrupted,” “The Earth Opens Up,” and “America’s Last Stand.”Final Empire begins Thursday, May 13, at 7 p.m. in the St. John’s SDA Church located at 30 Aldershot Street. It will run from May 13-16 @7pm and it will also be available for attending online. You may register to attend this free event by calling 709-579-2530 or by visiting: www.finalempire.com/fe/501.

UPDATE: A message from our pastor regarding church services February 13 and 20:After careful consideration, as per NL Government restrictions stating that gatherings by faith-based organizations must be limited to 10 people for two weeks, we are inviting our entire church family to worship virtually via Zoom on February 13 and 20, 2021. We will not be having the church building open. Please note this is an UPDATE to our earlier post: there will NOT be a livestream service for these two weeks, only the Zoom service. For members, the Zoom link has been sent out by email and will be posted in the private church Facebook group; others can get the link by messaging the church Facebook page or emailing stjohnssda@gmail.com.We encourage everyone to consult our church website for the giving of tithes and offerings online. In these challenging times, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ encourages us “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that were I am, there you may be also” (John 14:1-3). We certainly look forward to that ‘new normal’; until then, let us remain encouraged that God will lead and guide us through these uncertain times.
