Though our church building remains closed until at least the end of August, we continue to offer Sabbath morning Bible Study and worship via Zoom. There are other online prayer and study options offered throughout the week by the SDA Church in NL. Please message the Facebook page, or email stjohnssda@gmail.com , for more information and links to specific programs, including the Sabbath morning Zoom service each week. Further updates about the re-opening plan will come later in the summer.

Our Sunday Soup Supper program has transitioned to a home-delivery grocery program. People who would like to receive up to 15 grocery items on Sunday (two Sundays a month) should email stjohnssda@gmail.com, or call 739-7473, before 8 pm on the previous Thursday evening. The delivery dates for summer will be July 12 and 26, August 9 and 30.

Church members who would like to contribute to the grocery program can mark their donations for Community Services.

Remember that the "Online Giving" link on the church website can be still used for tithe and offerings while we are not able to hold church services.

In keeping with current government guidelines around gatherings and events, all our worship services and activities at the church are cancelled until further notice.

The only exception is that for now, our "soup kitchen" time slot on Sundays (5-6 pm, April 5 and 19) will go ahead, but instead of serving a meal we will have volunteers available to give out a few items from our food pantry to those in need. We will attempt to do this with as little direct contact as possible and only one person at a time will be allowed into the building to collect food items.

Announcements relevant to church members, and some Sabbath morning online worship activities, are being shared on our church's private Facebook group, which you can request to join. Message this page for more information if needed. We pray that all our members and friends will remain safe and well during these difficult times.

Important Message to the St. John’s Members and all Attendees

After careful consideration, as per recommendation from the North American Division, the Seventh-day Adventist Church In Canada, and the Mission Office, we have decided to cancel our Worship Services and mid-week programs until April 4th, 2020 in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

On Sabbath March 21st , and 28th we will be streaming a compact version of our service. This will be found on our social media platforms. Stay tuned as more updates are shared in the coming days. If you are unable to access this, you are encouraged to find Adventist presentations on the internet for your Sabbath worship experience.

We are encouraging everyone to consult our church website for the giving of tithes and offering. This is an important time for us to practice systematic giving. This means that your giving is not based on your physical presence.

In midst of crisis, let us remember that our omnipotent and omnipresent heavenly Father truly watches over His children. We are assured that God will continue to keep us in His protective care as we know “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” Hebrews 13:8.

Sincerely,
Pastor Jamie Joseph

Our Music Day worship service will go ahead as planned at 11:00 on Sabbath, March 14. Please come prepared to make a joyful noise. However, the planned lunch afterwards has been cancelled.

Like most other organizations we are making changes to help limit the spread of the Covid-19 virus. In addition to cancelling this week's lunch, the regular monthly potluck for March 28 has been cancelled, and the communion service scheduled for March 21 will be moved to April 25.
